Isis Broken

Meet BRUXA CANGACEIRA, the new album from Isis Broken aka Bruxa Travesti.

Isis Broken (BR)

Isis Broken is a Travesti cangaceira witch, great-granddaughter of Lampião, granddaughter of repentista and cordelista, and singer. The daughter of a teacher and a graphic in a local newspaper, she grew up surrounded by books, demonstrating an interest in reading and storytelling. The appreciation for playfulness made her look for references in Cordel [1] literature and popular culture to express herself through her compositions. Her songs are acidic, politicized and transit through rap, trap, suddenly, prose and pop. In 2019, Suprema was nominated and awarded to one of the biggest video clip awards in the country, the MVF, with "O Clã" she competed with big names in the Brazilian scene, such as Criolo and Urias, in the category "Best Costume" and won the award to Sergipe. She also won “Best National Music Video” at the Vitória Film Festival and another 5 national and 5 international nominations in London, Italy, Argentina, and Bogotá. In addition, it already accumulates more than 200 thousand reproductions on digital platforms. His debut show of “Tour Bruxa Cangaceira” took place at the 36th Festival of Arts of São Cristóvão and had an audience of 12 thousand people.

[1] Cordel - Cordel are leaflets containing popular poems, displayed for sale hanging on ropes or twine, which gave rise to the name. Cordel poems are written in rhyme form and some are illustrated with woodcuts.

Bruxa Cangaceira

Isis Broken is releasing her long-awaited first studio album, “Bruxa Cangaceira”, which contains twelve tracks, including “O Clã” and “Ararinha da Viola”. Travesti Cangaceira brings a lot of daring and courage in its lyrics and lyrics with bold guitar arrangements and an accordion that cries amidst the rap, suddenly and tangled up by the artist with brilliance and power. The album starts with the homonymous intro where she describes her journey as a peripheral black transvestite and northeastern, also features the singles “Gangue da Bruxa” bringing the best of rap, electronic and a rock vibe, “Vogue do Inferno” where she dives into the world of cordel, “Trava Que Faz Trap” where our Bruxona talks about being a Travesti in the world of rap completely macho and transphobic, “Cúceta” a powerful feat with Mc Xuxu one of the first trans artists in Brazilian music, as well as “Um Rock, Um Robo, Um Love Com Você” with Aqualien, Isis's husband, who was even pregnant expecting the couple's first child.
