"Vestígios", SISO's new album.

In his third solo album, Siso rescues pearls from the 2000s and 2010s. Entitled "Vestígios", the album to be released on August 18th is almost a journalistic work of rescuing and disseminating works that were lost in catalogs that disappeared during the technology transition. So far, four reinterpretations have been presented to the public: “O Homem-Pássaro”, an original song by Paralaxe that gained an intense and explosive version; “Cor de Jasmim”, originally recorded by the Minas Gerais project Umrio and now reinvented with the co-production of João Victor Santana Campos (Carne Doce); “Lanny”, original by the Greek-Brazilian duo Os Amantes Invisíveis, which featured Carina Renó (Etruscan, Letrux) signing with Siso to produce the new version; and “Nada Além”, by the Acre band Los Porongas, which was jointly produced by Siso and Patrick Laplan (Duda Beat, Gabriel Ventura, Los Hermanos). Listen Vestígios in all digital platforms.

With the digital revolution we moved from physical media, such as CDs, to MP3s, and later to streaming. In this context there were several changes in paradigm and environment, music consumption went from MP3 blogs to Trama Virtual, MySpace, then to YouTube, and more recently to Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Amazon Music and the like. A lot was lost along the way - hence the name "Traces". "Several of the original recordings of these songs are not yet present on streaming services as we know them today, and those that are, perform in such a way that you have no idea of their relevance, which makes it difficult for a later generation to understand and rescue these works", reflects Siso.

The construction process was based on this concern of the artist, who sought to take his aesthetics to reinterpretations, making major recontextualizations in some cases and less harsh interventions in others. "The intention is not to be colonialist. It's more about recognizing yourself in others, understanding that these people were an important part of my personal construction and also notable elements within a culture, which can be more valued", he explains. After having made an album almost entirely alone, in his room, at the height of the pandemic, Siso felt the need to collaborate and have more people take part in the processes. Once he had a repertoire in hand, he was consumed by the project and its completion was quick, no wonder the entire album was soon recorded, without much polishing.

Throughout its eight tracks, “Vestígios” is above all a rock album, dense and danceable in a constant balance with the lightness of Siso's voice and the electronic research that follows the artist's trajectory. From sensitive versions such as “Cor de Jasmim” and “Lanny” to the tense and very current interpretation of “Jovem Tirano Príncipe Besta”, by Maranhão musician Negro Leo (young tyrant prince besta/ you're screwed/ you're going to fuck with everything/ you're going to screw with the world), the album is a rift that unites decades and tensions his music, with the aim of extending it.
